Volunteers tidy up Marsh & Micklefield

March was quite a busy month in Wycombe Marsh, with some tidying up of areas we grew weary of waiting to be dealt. The damaged barrier on London Road that nobody claimed they owned, along with the overgrown area along further along by the bus stop had long been something we wanted to tackle and with the support of Marsh & Micklefield Big Local and our volunteers we think the improvements look great.

Our ever-active volunteer Stephen was out and about clearing debris from the traffic island at the corner of Abbey Barn Road and the difference this work made was very noticeable.

Over the last month the team have also been weeding, feeding and planting the village sign garden and planters in both Wycombe Marsh and Micklefield but the very hot weather has delayed this a little. Hills Café have kindly agreed to water the planters at the corner of Herbert Road and we are very grateful for their help with this.

We were very fortunate to have had two local organisations, Biffa and Red Kite Community Housing, out litter picking in Wycombe Marsh in early June and we are really appreciative of their ongoing support in trying to keep our area clean and tidy.

We also loaned out litter picking equipment to a local Cub Scout group and are delighted to see that they are keen to get involved in these activities. 

Here are our litter picking dates for the next few months, join us for a clean up and coffee, (or whatever takes your fancy), afterwards. Everyone welcome and all equipment is supplied.

Tuesday 22nd July – Meet at Hills Café at 10 am
Saturday 26th July – Meet at Bees Knees Sandwich Bar at 10 am
Tuesday 26th August – Meet outside Wrights Meadow Centre. Parking available at the retail park
Saturday 6th September – Meet at Hills Café at 10 am
Tuesday 16th September – Meet at Bees Knees at 10 am
Tuesday 23rd September – Meet outside Wrights Meadow Centre at 10 am. Parking available at retail park
Saturday 4th October – Meet at Hills Café at 10 am
Tuesday 7th October – Meet at Bees Knees Sandwich Bar at 10 am
